I thought the oil change was quite expensive compared to other places I could have gone. I had seen on the website that an oil change was $29.99 and after I got done checking in it was priced over $100. I received good service, but won't be coming back due to high price for an oil change.
Went in thinking my alternator was the issue with my car’s noise and smell coming from under the hood. When I arrived to get it checked out I was told nothing was wrong with the alternator, even though I pressed that it was the issue multiple times. Was sold a new battery and air filters instead, and my car continued to have the previous problems when I left. The issue was not resolved, and the next day I went to advance auto parts and got an alternator test done, since Midas did nothing to test the alternator. Turns out my alternator was not good, as I suspected when I went in to Midas. I bought a new alternator from Midas, what I actually needed instead of the battery and air filter I was sold from Midas due to the lack of thoroughness on the inspection of my engine bay. I’m not sure if the guy didn’t believe me that it was the alternator, was lazy to check it, or was just pressed on time but I ended up spending $300 that I didn’t need to spend.
The crew and the store manager were polite and knowledgeable.
The technician physically showed me the problem with my brakes, which was actually very reassuring. As a single woman, it’s hard to leave my car in mechanics hands as I have been scammed before.

I just wanted an oil change in the person kept pressuring me into buying more and more stuff even though I didn’t need it. It would be nice if they didn’t pressure so much especially with being in college student. It feels like they are trying to target us.
The sales pitch and pushiness was too much. Three of us there and 2 of us had ticking time bombs and the other shouldn't drive their car because it was a death trap. Then after I declined the first 2 services was told I needed 2 other items immediately. This is all after I said I had a funeral to go to and didn't have the time or money to do extra things. Instead of condolences or backing off, the trip to the funeral was used as a way to try to talk me into more things. And it was so much pressure to everyone who walked in the door.
The device here was unbelievably quick and kind. The staff here is willing to show you and tell you exactly what is wrong and going on with your vehicle anytime that something would show up.

Assistant manager, who is very nice and respectful, was trying to tell me I needed new tires and alignment. Tires are a year old, as is most recent alignment without much hard driving. Plenty of tread left on the tires, probably 30-40,000 miles. The manager is far more honest about what really needs attention on the vehicle.
The sale price on the site was not accepted for my service. I got a coupon and it was still $20 more expensive than my usual place. I was told ALL the things I needed and was pressured to buy / do them. But I feel it was not necessary… as a female I was taken advantage of.

If you are going to advertise about thanking people for their service, you should thank them on all the services you provide. I was told you only do the discount on the brake work and not the oil change. When I told you I wanted my tires rotated you told me you know best and if you dont think they should be rotated you won't do it. The friendliness of the sales manager can be vastly improved.
It was the fastest car repair I think I have ever had. They were quick and thorough. Other shops had weeks to months for a wait, but I was able to get in within minutes of calling to schedule an appointment!

This is one of the first auto shops that I have felt completely comfortable asking detailed questions about my vehicle knowing that the staff will explain everything in a way that is understandable for someone who doesn't know a lot about cars! Allow me to use my valid coupon that I've used at other Midas locations in the past for a full synthetic change and don't claim "by law" that I'm required to get the most expensive oil change. The pettiness from other employees that was clearly rehearsed was not required.

My warranty was still valid and they didn't do anything to fix the problem. They were very mad about me even being there. They treated me like someone who didn't know anything about my vehicle. They were suppose to show me the front brakes and rotors and they didn't. They just told me they were fine so they weren't replacing them. It's so apparent that it's the front brakes and rotors and they did not want to do the warranty work. They just said you need the back ones fixed so here's how much and sent me on my way. Very dissatisfied. I will never go to that midas branch ever again. i can't drive my vehicle at all. Hope you fix them!! Good Luck!!
To expensive for them not do finish the job
I paid 1,499.37 dollars for brakes and wheen alignment, and left Side Control Arm, after getting my vehicle back, it wasn't aligned, the brakes don't stop quickly it had very loud screeching noise casue the they didn't finish the job I paid for!!! And was told they couldn't get me back in until a week later
The workers, especially the front desk person, were very scammy and kept trying to get us to add unnecessary services. even took out my clean engine filter and told me I needed to replace it since they removed it costing me an extra $30 on top of an already expensive oil change. The price was too high as well. I can go elsewhere and spend $70 on an oil change, not over $100
I was wary of going to Midas, bigger chains tend to talk down to me because I’m a woman. These guys were great and they really cared about my safety. I even talked to them about purchasing a new car and which ones I should avoid. I would go here again and again.

I believe the paying customer should be able to chose if they want to use synthetic oil or regular oil when they are getting the oil changed. Some people cannot afford the price jump when their vehicle holds 8+ quarts. Let the customer chose and note that the customer declined synthetic oil.

Every time I bring my car to Midas for a simple service, when I return, there is always something astronomically wrong with my car estimated at well over $1,000. I’m happy to bring my car to Midas, but not when it seems all they want to do is find more issues and reasons to take more money. The last time I had taken my car here they had given me an estimate of over $1,500 for an issue that I was able to fix myself for about $50. When I picked my car up again after this most recent oil change & there was another $1,500 issue, I start to wonder if Midas actually has my vehicles best interest in mind or if they just have dollar signs in mind. Staff was friendly enough, but I will not be bringing my vehicle back.
I needee 2 tires that they said would be 564 dollars. Since then i have found out i could have gotten both tires for around 325. I think there should be a place you all work for a better buy.
It took a couple of days before my appointment was confirmed. When I arrived, I waited five minutes before an employee came to the front desk. The work was started 15 minutes after the appointment was scheduled. I was given a very high estimate for work that needed to be done but without explanation of why the quote was so high. As I was waiting, it seemed other customers experience the same kind of service (or lack of). When you give a customer a very high estimate (like over a thousand dollars) there needs to be a breakdown of why it's so high (e.g. parts, labor).
There won't be a next time
The employee that was working in the waiting area when my van was towed in, took the time to communicate with my sons on the phone all the problems they found. He called my warranty insurance and explained what they found. He explained the difference between the credit card and loan paperwork to help me cover the cost that wasn’t covered by my insurance. Overall I will come back to this Midas when I need repairs on my vehicles even though I live in Davenport, IA and not in Iowa City, IA.
I have several choices for oil change in this area, but I had never tried Midas before, and thought you looked and sounded reputable. Very short walk for dropping off and picking up. Paul was very helpful on the phone and in person, and encouraged me to schedule the apt while the most qualified person was working. I was happy I could be accommodated on such short notice
I was expecting an unforeseen issue that would increase the cost of my estimated service but it turned out everything was just as they quoted and now my wife is quite happy with the service they provided at the time of service. If she is happy, I’m delighted!!! I actually thought the tech was going to announce major repair but checked everything out and made everything better than great! Thank you Midas.

Clear and concise communication of what’s going on. Don’t try to confuse me and tell me that my tires don’t match my rims and that’s why it’s taking so long, as if it’s MY fault? I also would like to say that my car has been acting very strangely since it was serviced, although, I’m pretty sure that may be a coincidence. Associate was also EXTREMELY RUDE. He acted like he didn’t want me to be there, and was honestly really petty. I arrived at 1PM to check on my car (it was supposed to have been done at 1), and it was still on the lift, with no tires. It took them until 3:50PM to get it finished. Very unhappy.
